A remarkable 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition, directly from Ford's exclusive collection, has been successfully auctioned at Barrett-Jackson. This vehicle, bearing serial number 003, is one of only 343 ever produced and stands out with its low mileage of 8,435 miles and distinctive Gulf livery. The proceeds from its sale will significantly contribute to the preservation and maintenance of the Ford Heritage Fleet, ensuring that other historical vehicles can be kept in pristine condition for future generations of enthusiasts.
On October 19, 2025, a truly exceptional automotive artifact, a 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition, was put up for sale at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale Fall Auction. This particular model, celebrated for its unique Gulf livery and historical significance, is serial number 003, making it one of the earliest and most sought-after Heritage Edition GTs ever manufactured. With a mere 8,435 miles on its odometer, the car has seen minimal use, primarily for media engagements and promotional activities by Ford. Despite its near-pristine condition, the vehicle does carry a documented history of minor incidents, including a low-speed rear-end collision and an instance of hitting a ditch, which caused underbody damage. However, these issues were professionally addressed, and the supercar was thoroughly restored to its original factory specifications. Hallie Robinson, a spokeswoman for Ford, confirmed that the funds generated from this high-profile sale are earmarked for the ongoing restoration and meticulous maintenance of the Ford Heritage Fleet. Ted Ryan, Ford’s Heritage and Brand Manager, specifically noted that a portion of the proceeds would be allocated to ready Ford of England’s GT collection for the upcoming 60th anniversary of Le Mans. The new custodian of this magnificent machine received not only the vehicle but also a certificate of authenticity and a comprehensive build book, detailing its production journey.
This event underscores the enduring appeal of classic and rare automobiles, particularly those with a storied past and direct lineage to their manufacturers. The sale of this Ford GT Heritage Edition highlights the importance of preserving automotive heritage and the community's passion for these mechanical masterpieces. It also reminds us that even vehicles with minor imperfections can command significant value when their historical context and rarity are considered.
